THE MAN, OR THE PERSON!!
Man is made of an independent
spirit, an independent soul and a
body. These three components, the spirit, the soul and the body make the
complete beings of man, which makes us
tripartite beings.
The spirit-being and the soul-being, which Elohim sent from Heaven
when we were conceived, are almost inseparable and are housed in our bodies
while we are alive in this world.
They are not material elements which can be seen and felt like we
can see and feel our physical bodies.
Our spirits and our souls are the real you and me. They are in control of our physical being and make
us the real persons we are in life.
However, without a living body in
which to operate, they have no legal rights in this world.
THE SPIRIT BEING OF MAN!!
In the last Post we looked
at what is written in the Cruden’s
Complete Concordance about the spirit-being of man. On Page 626, it says:
“[2] For the renewed nature, or the spiritual part in man. Matthew
26:41.”
In that Text, Matthew 26:
41, it says:
“The spirit indeed is
willing but the flesh is weak.”
“[3] Signifies the soul which continues in being after the death
of the body”. Acts 7:59, 60.
Here in Acts Stephen’s his last words before he died are recorded:
“[Adonai] Lord receive my spirit. . . And when he had said this, he
fell asleep”. Acts 7:59, 60.
THE SPIRIT-BEING!!
The spirit-being, like the soul-being, is the
immaterial part of our beings which cannot be seen with the physical eyes, yet
it is very real. It has feelings, emotions, thinks, makes decisions and
gives instructions to the body to carry
out those instructions.
The spirit part of us plays a very important role in our
lives. In our natural state, we do not truly
know ourselves or the real us. Our
spirits, however, know us very well.
Concerning this we are told in 1 Corinthians 2:11:
“For what man knoweth
the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him?”
In 1 Corinthians 14: 14,15,
Paul further tells more about the spirit-being for those who pray in the spirit. He says:
“For if I pray in an
unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful. What
is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding
also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.
1 Corinthians 14: 14,15.
Our spirits, like our
souls, are real and for those who will be in the final Judgment, both
will have to give accounts to Yahushua,
our Saviour, for what was done in the bodies which were their homes in this
world. They will have to give the reasons they are in that judgment because He came
to this world and gave His life for the souls (spirit and soul) of everyone on
the Planet to save them from eternal
torment in Hell when they die and from the lake of fire and brimstone in that
final judgment.
Paul knew the importance of
this immaterial part of the being and how it should be ordered. He
wrote:
“And the very [Elohim] God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray
[Yahweh] God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto
the coming of our [Adonai Yahushua Ha Mashiach] Lord Jesus Christ”. 1
Thessalonians 5:23.
This was the prayer of Paul, the apostle, for all who would accept
Yahushua as their Saviour. It should
also be our daily prayer because we sin in words, in thoughts and in deeds.
Therefore, it is important that we accept Yahushua as our personal
Saviour so that our entire being of spirit, soul and body, can be under the
control of the Ruach Ha Kodesh, the Third Member in the Trinity.
Once we have accepted Yahushua as our Saviour, He baptises us
with the Ruach Ha Kodesh (Matthew 3:11; Acts 1: 5,8).
From the moment we are baptised with the Ruach Ha Kodesh and “fire”, He begins to communicate with us,
teaches us, guides us, blesses us and
gives us His “fruit” and “gifts”.
As our Elohim here upon earth, the Ruach Ha Kodesh helps us to do good, instead of evil and to
love our Elohim and our fellowmen (1 Corinthians 12: 1, 3-11; Galatians 5: 22,23; John 14: 16,17,
26).
If these virtues are lacking in our lives, then our lives will
tell because we are told in Matthew 7: 20:
“Wherefore by their
fruits ye shall know them”.
It is important that as followers of Yahushua Ha Mashiach our entire beings are
under the control of the Ruach Ha Kodesh, otherwise Satan automatically and forcefully takes over.
He does not wait to be invited or given permission to come into our lives. He
forcefully does so This is the reason Yahushua speaking to the Jews of His day
who opposed Him, told them in John 8: 44:
“Ye are of your father
the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the
beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When
he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of
it”.
Satan loves no one. He has one aim and that is to destroy everyone
whom he can get hold of and control. Once he is in control of the spirit,
he is in control of the entire being and works his hardest to remain in
full control so that he can destroy them.
Satan is the great Deceiver and once he is able to keep people deceived
and blinded, he knows they are unable to
come to Yahushua, their Saviour. Once he does, he knows he is successful in
keeping them out of the kingdom of glory
and from having eternal life with
Yahushua. Yahushua knew this very well that is the reason He warns us in Matthew 12: 43-45:
“When the unclean spirit
is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth
none.
44 Then he saith, I
will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he
findeth it empty, swept, and garnished.
45 Then goeth he, and
taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they
enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the
first”.
Demon spirits do not have bodies, that is the reason they inhabit
the bodies of humans and other creatures.
Our only defense against them is through Yahushua our Saviour and the
Ruach Ha Kodesh.
THE SPIRIT MUST BE BORN AGAIN!!
Our spirit i.e. our spirit being, plays a very vital role in our lives and is
the part of our being which knows us
very well, as we are told 1 Corinthians 2:11:
“For what man knoweth
the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him?”
And again in Proverbs 20:27:
“The spirit of man is
the candle of [Yahweh] the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly”.
The Cruden’s Complete Concordance, Page 626 describes the spirit-being as the “renewed
nature, or the spiritual part in man”.
It is this part of our being which brings us close to our Elohim
and worships Him. It is the part of our being which MUST be
“born again”, as Yahushua told
Nicodemus in John 3: 5, 6:
“…Verily, verily, I say
unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter
into the kingdom of God. 6 That
which is born of the flesh is flesh; AND THAT WHICH IS BORN OF THE SPIRIT IS
SPIRIT. 7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born
again”.
Therefore, for us to be new creatures in Yahushua and be His
children, OUR SPIRIT-BEINGS MUST BE “BORN AGAIN”. This re-birth is from Heaven
and is only done through the power of
the Ruach Ha Kodesh, the true Spirit of
Yahweh. Concerning this we read in John 3:6:
“that which is born of
the Spirit is spirit”. John 3: 7.
Once our spirits are “born again” and our souls are “converted”,
then our Elohim: Yahweh our Father, Yahushua our Saviour and the Ruach Ha
Kodesh, comes into our hearts and lives with us (John 14: 23).
It is imperative that OUR SPIRIT-BEINGS are “BORN AGAIN” by the power of the Ruach Ha
Kodesh and that we are NOT JUST church
goers. We must understand that we can be
going to church faithfully each week, paying our tithes and doing good to our
fellowmen, and yet we are NOT “born again”.
Nicodemus was one of the rulers of the synagogue and yet he was
not “born again”, neither did he know about the new birth, nor its importance. Therefore, when he went to Yahushua to assure
Him that He was sent from Yahweh, having seen the miracles He did, we are read
in John 3: 3-8, what Yahushua told him:
“Verily, verily, I say
unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
4 Nicodemus saith
unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time
into his mother’s womb, and be born?
5 Jesus answered,
Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the
Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of [Elohim] God.
6 That which is born of
the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Marvel
not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
8 The wind bloweth where
it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it
cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.” John 3: 3-8.
Our spirit-beings also must be “born again” and born from above by
the power of Ruach Ha Kodesh. We are
also told John 3: 5, that we must also be “born of the water”.
This is a command of Yahushua and water baptism should be a
natural sequence after the re-birth of the spirit-being. Re-birth and baptism of the spirit-being are
imperative for our salvation.
Yahushua was sinless and yet He presented Himself for baptism
before He began His earthly ministry. Concerning water baptism, He told John
the Baptist:
“… for thus it becometh
us to fulfil all righteousness”. Matthew 3:15.
In Mark 16: 15, 16,
Yahushua gave the command:
“Go ye into all the
world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is
baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned”.
Therefore, it is important that each one of us pray to our
Heavenly Father in the name of Yahushua for the re-birth of our spirit-beings
to take place and that the followers of Yahushua follow His example and be
baptised by immersion.
Once this re-birth takes place in our lives, with the help of the
Ruach Ha Kodesh, we should endeavour to pattern our lives after the life of
Yahushua, our perfect example, while He
was upon this earth. Patterning our
lives after His life is necessary in order for us to have a close and personal
relationship with Him on a daily basis.
It is through our spirit-being
that we are drawn to our Elohim and have communion and fellowship with Him,
along with prayer, praise and the studying of His Word in the Scriptures. This is one of the reasons we are given the
admonition in Hebrews 10: 25:
“. . . not forsaking the
assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one
another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching”.
We are also told in Ephesians 5:19:
“Speaking to yourselves
in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your
heart to the Lord”.
Likewise, we are told in Colossians 3:16:
“Let the word of Christ
dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in
psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the
Lord”.
As we follow these admonitions, we will have a close relationship
with our Elohim and will feed our spirit-being.
We will also be rehearsing for the time when we will be worshiping our
Elohim in Heaven and the earth made new.
